On November 1998, California voters passed the California Children and Families Act of 1998. The act levies a tax on cigarettes and other tobacco products with the intent to provide funding for early childhood development programs, in addition to establishing a State Commission and local County Commissions for this purpose.

Community Development Mini-Grants

BabywHat2Community Development Mini-Grant STEP Two Applicants: The Imperial County Children and Families First Commission has allocated $100,000 for the purpose of awarding a number of mini-grant projects for funding for fiscal year 2016-2017. The maximum award is $25,000 for individual applications. The course of action entails a two-step process, where potential applicants submit a Statement of Interest to Apply form under Step 1 of this process. The Commission selects applicants submitting Statement of Interest to Apply forms for Step 2, thus inviting selected applicants to apply by completing and submitting a Community Development Mini-grant Application by May 11, 2016. At the April 7, 2016 regular meeting of the Commission five agencies that submitted a Statement of Interest to Apply form were selected to continue on to Step 2, and therefore were invited to compete for a Community Development Mini-Grant award for the 2016-2017 funding cycle. Step 2 applicants can download copies of the application guidelines and relevant forms by clicking on the following links:
